About I Want That Hat
It started as a joke. Then the hats got serious.
Artificial intelligence is reshaping software, work and possibly civilisation.
We review the hats.
I Want That Hat exists to identify, document and rank the headwear emerging from the people and companies building the future.
Internal team drops. Conference exclusives. Research lab caps. Startup merch. The occasional hat so good it briefly changes your opinion of the company that made it.
We believe hats are an underexamined layer of the AI ecosystem.
A good hat can signal taste, access, affiliation, technical credibility or simply that someone in brand finally got the embroidery right. These things matter.
So we apply unnecessary rigour.
We look at shape, material, stitching, construction, colour, logo placement, scarcity and the difficult-to-quantify question of whether you would actually wear it outside a developer conference.
Some hats are photographed directly. Others are reconstructed from available references where originals are difficult to obtain. Rankings are editorial. Placements are not paid.
We are independent, unofficial and unaffiliated with the organisations whose hats appear here.
Our mission is straightforward:
Find the best hats in AI. Preserve them for the historical record. Help the right heads find them.
The models will improve.
The benchmarks will move.
The hats remain.
